Good morning!  Glad I was wrong about how much sun we would see yesterday.  It was a pleasant surprise.  We did see scattered showers and thunderstorms last night and the coast may see a few go by this morning.  Otherwise, low clouds and fog will turn into a mix of clouds and hazy sunshine.  Fog...more may hug the coast most of the day east of Portland.  A cold front will fire off another round of showers and thunderstorms late this afternoon and evening.  Some storms could contain hail, strong winds and heavy downpours.  Storms will weaken as they push towards the coast.  Things clear out overnight as the front heads out to sea.  High pressure builds in tomorrow and will stick around through the weekend bringing us some real nice weather, so get out and enjoy!  Have a good day!!

WATERVILLE, Maine (AP) - Investigators followed a trail of flower petals to find the man suspected of breaking into the personal vehicles of Waterville police officers.

Deputy Chief Charles Rumsey said an officer went into the parking lot where police park their cars Monday
...more morning and found that his vehicle had been broken into and flowers removed. A second officer later discovered his vehicle also had been pilfered.

A trail of petals led police to 61-year-old Donald Fencik hiding under a nearby pedestrian bridge.

Police say Fencik also had clothes, sunglasses, jumper cables and other items officers said he stole from their vehicles. He also had tools police think he stole from a nearby construction site.

Fencik pleaded guilty to motor vehicle burglary and theft and was sentenced to 60 days in jail.

PORTLAND, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Environmentalists and town officials in Greenville are celebrating a massive conservation easement that will protect a huge swath of forest land for wildlife, recreation and forestry.

"Just yesterday, we finally closed on the 2nd largest conservation
...more easement ever done in the United States' history," Mike Tetreault, executive director of The Nature Conservancy, announced to the crowd gathered at the Maine Historical Society.

The 363,000 acres of land in the Moosehead region will be protected from future development, while still being harvested for timber and open to the public for hunting, fishing and other recreational activities.

"It is a great day for the Greenville area, it really is," stated Greenville town manager Gary Lamb.  "The fact that this is going to continue to be a working forest, and that traditional Maine access [will remain open] that's the key, so that people can continue to go out on these lands and

LEWISTON, Maine (NEWS CENTER) -- Maine Families Androscoggin says 750 high risk families will lose home visiting services under the state budget being voted on Tuesday.

The visits are designed to help families struggling with substance abuse, mental illness, and domestic violence make
...more their homes safer for their children aged 0-3.  Home visitation also is available for teen parents and families involved in the child welfare system.

The federal government has given Maine Families a grant to expand the program.  But that money will not help 750 families currently enrolled.  Their services are paid for through $2.6 million in the Fund For a Healthy Maine, money that is slated to be cut in the state budget.  The federal government has told Maine Families it cannot use the grant money to serve families whose services are currently being paid for with state dollars.

That is leaving some moms, like Sara Hallman of Lewiston, wondering what to do if her services
